Medical Board Considered Revoking Doc's License

The plastic surgeon who operated on Dr. Donda West prior to her death has a troubled history with the licensing board in California. According to Celebtv.com and TMZ.com, the Medical board of California considered suspending or revoking Dr. Jan Adams' license for multiple DUI's and violations for prescribing controlled drugs for his own personal use.

But the most damning evidence against the doctor will be the malpractice judgements filed against him.

CelebTV.com is first to obtain additional documents which claim Dr. Adams was handed down two malpractice judgments by Los Angeles Superior Court for his medical practice. In August of 2001 he was ordered to pay $250,000 in one claim.

In September of 2001, he was ordered to pay $217,337 in another malpractice judgment.

California places a cap on non-economic damages for medical malpractice cases at $250,000. (Source: CelebTV.com)

Two malpractice cases is pretty good. I don't know if anyone knows this or not, but doctors get sued all the time and cosmetic surgeons get sued mure than celebrities. They get sued so much that they pay as much for malpractice insurance as many of us make in a year.

Poor doctor. Now he's gonna get dragged through the mud and we don't even know if he did anything wrong.

It's too bad that they didn't revoke his license before. It shouldn't take something like this to happen for them to take action.

Pinky, it takes a lot to prove a medical palpractice suit - a long time to prove it, becaue as high tech as it is, Medicine is still not considered an exact science. Meaning that there are still many factors that may or may not have been under ones control i.e.,'one's time to go'. Saying that, it just takes a lot to revoke someones license behind 2 lawsuits. Usually when there is a long track record of negligence, then there becomes an issue of concern. Also, I think the fact that a Dr may work for himself vs a hospital or network, makes a difference too.

You're right. It's much easier to revoke a nurse's license than it is to revoke a doctor's. I've sat in on license revocation hearings and I've heard some horror stories but the doctors still walk away with their licenses intact.

@bird that was so correct, when i was in college we has a class on ethics and all, but i remember them saying about physicians having to take out insurance for malpractices just because of what you are saying and it is high as shit, so yea it takes quite a bit, but i'm reading alot of stuff about his character now, its sad everything is coming out, they say he's a drunk and abusive, and that he has been arrested a few times for dui amongst other things, I feel really sorry for kanye and his mom.
